The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Brno, Veterinární a farmaceutická univerzita Brno, consists of three faculties - the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology and the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Brief information
The campus of the university is unique. Some of the buildings were built in the last century, but there are also modern, well-equipped buildings. There is a large central park next to the university. There is a greenhouse and a botanical garden on the university campus.
Faculties, directions and conditions of admission
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine offers a 6-year Master's degree programme in Veterinary Medicine.
The training includes the study of a group of subjects of basic disciplines (biology, chemistry), animal husbandry (feeding of farm animals, zootechnics, zoogygiene, animal welfare), preclinical disciplines (anatomy, histology, embryology, physiology, pathological anatomy, pathological physiology, microbiology, immunology, parasitology, genetics, pharmacology, toxicology and epidemiology), clinical disciplines (diseases of dogs, cats, horses, cattle, pigs, poultry, fish, bees and exotic animals, infectious diseases), forensic medicine, nutritional hygiene.
Studies include the entire spectrum of veterinary medicine, but are heavily oriented towards the diagnosis, therapy and prevention of diseases of various animals.
Graduates receive the title of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine - MVDr.
Entrance examinations: biology and chemistry texts are taken.
You also need to provide medical proof of your ability to study at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Faculty of Pharmacy
The studies follow a 5-year Master's programme in Pharmacy.
The studies include a group of core subjects (biology, chemistry), subjects from the group of specialities in the field of human health, pharmaceutical subjects (natural drugs, chemical drugs, drug technology, pharmacology and toxicology, applied pharmacy).
The student acquires knowledge in the field of pharmaceuticals, technological processing of drugs and symptomatic actions of drugs.
Entrance examinations: written tests in biology, chemistry and physics.
Acceptance of applications: until 29 February.
Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology
The course is a 6-year Master's programme in Veterinary Hygiene and Environmental Science.
Entrance examinations: tests in biology and chemistry.
Acceptance of applications: until 15 March
Education is carried out on 3-year bachelor's degree programmes in two specialities:
Food Safety and Quality (admission of students without exams, based on the average score of the certificate) Animal Welfare and Animal Welfare (admission of students on the basis of a biology test).
Studies in these specialities can also be continued in a 2-year Master's programme:

The entrance examination for the continuing master's programme tests the knowledge of the specialisation at the level of a bachelor's graduate.
