About the institution
The University strives to offer specialities that meet the demands of practice. Design is developed at a high level in the Zlín region, primarily thanks to the work of the Faculty of Multimedia Communication at Tomáš Bati University.
Brief information
The university is named in honour of the legendary founder of the Zlín shoe factory and world-renowned entrepreneur Tomáš Baťa (1876-1932).
The university was opened in 2001. In the 15 years of its operation, the university has managed to take a prominent place in the Czech higher education system.
The university is developing in the direction of a business university, i.e. an open university that co-operates closely with local companies and transfers the results of science and research into practice.

The university offers a wide range of humanities, natural sciences, technical and creative specialities at six faculties.
In science and research, the university has gained an international reputation in the fields of polymer engineering, chemistry, automation and process control.

The university has a high level of English language teaching and an international environment.
The University has opened the Centre for Applied Informatics and the Centre for Polymer Systems. - These centres conduct applied research for regional companies. The Centre for Creative Industries operates in Zlin.

Faculty of Multimedia Communication
The Faculty provides multidisciplinary education in the field of media, marketing and advertising. The high level of development of design and visual culture in the Zlín region is confirmed by prestigious design awards, which have been continuously awarded to local companies in recent years.

Within the speciality "Multimedia and Design" the following ateliers are taught: Shoe Design, Fashion Design, Glass Design, Digital Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, Spatial Creativity, Industrial Design, Advertising Photography.

The following specialisations are taught within the Audiovisual Arts major: Camera, Directing and Scriptwriting, Editing, Sound Editing.
Producing
The deadline to apply for creative specialities is 30 November. You can only apply to one atelier. A CV must be sent along with the application.
The entrance exam is held in 2 rounds. The first round is a portfolio competition. The second round consists of a written exam, a creative exam and an oral exam.
The first round takes place in mid-January. Works are evaluated on the level "passed" / "failed". The second round lasts for 3 days - at the end of January.
The examination consists of:
written exam for general knowledge in the field of visual culture and knowledge of the specialisation),
creative examination - performance of tasks on specialisation (3 days),
oral examination - the applicant's motivation, the depth of his/her interest in the speciality and general knowledge are evaluated.
The deadline to apply for Marketing Communications is 28 February.
The entrance exam is at the end of May. The entrance exam takes place in written form. The exam tests the general prerequisites for studying at the speciality of marketing communication and consists of 2 parts:
general knowledge exam (literature, culture, economics and politics - general knowledge at the level of a school graduate),
the exam for creativity and logical thinking (creative approach to solving communication tasks), the maximum score for this part is 50 points.
