History of the university
The University of Chemistry and Technology uses the latest developments in the field of nano- and biotechnology. It offers training both in traditional specialities and in new programmes that meet the latest trends.
Brief information
The university was established in 1952 and has a rich history. World-renowned chemists, including Nobel Prize winners in chemistry, have taught at the faculties of the University of Chemistry and Technology.
The university has state-of-the-art facilities and co-operates with more than 40 universities around the world.
The university is supported in its scientific and educational projects by leading companies in the industry, including the Czech Republic's largest oil refining company Unipetrol and the pharmaceutical company Zentiva.
Conditions of admission
Admission to the bachelor's programme at the Graduate School of Chemical Technology in Prague is without examinations. Applicants are admitted on the basis of a ranking according to chemistry and maths grades from the last four years of school.
Foreign applicants must pass the Czech language examination at the Department of Languages of the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (VŠCHT). The examination consists of a written test in Czech language at the B2 SERR level, including terminology in natural sciences, and an oral examination, testing knowledge of basic terminology in chemistry and mathematics. The Czech language exam takes place in mid-June.
