Technical University of Liberec (TUL) with its seven faculties and a research institute offers a wide selection of study programs — not only in technical fields, but in economics, architecture and teaching.
Technical University of Liberec was founded in 1953, first as University of Mechanical Engineering in Liberec. Over the decades, the University grew and the number of fields has increased. Nowadays, TUL‘s alumnies are becoming not only engineers, but also scientists, architects and inventors. Moreover, it is not only the place of education, but also of research and practice, as University includes The Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation.
TUL is a medium-size university, which makes individual approach to students possible. Technical University of Liberec is ranked 801 in QS World University Rankings.
Liberec — a place of winter sports
The city of Liberec itself, located about a hundred kilometers up to the north from Czech capital Prague, could be quite an attractive destination. It is surrounded by charming nature, which provides great possibilities for sport activities. Ski resort Ještěd is located right on the edge of the city, and the Jizera mountains, heaven for cross-country skiing, are very close. This makes Liberec a major tourist destination.
Tuition Fees in TUL
All Czech-language programs are free of charge even for foreigners. English-taught programs have tuition fees. Master‘s and Bachelor‘s degree programs in TUL cost between 3,000-5,000 USD, depending on the faculty.
Erasmus+ in TUL
Erasmus+ is an educational program from the European Union, which provides funding for international study. It allows all Bachelor‘s and Master‘s students to have a semester or two of study in a partner university abroad. Technical University of Liberec is a member of the Erasmus+ community, and it is eligible for sending or taking students in.
Study in English
At the moment, Technical University of Liberec offers two Bachelor‘s programs taught in English, both of them are from the Faculty of Textile Engineering (FT). The first one is Design, and the other one is Textile Technology, Materials and Nanomaterials. There are more Master‘s English-taught programs: Innovation and Industrial Engineering, and Machines and Equipment Design (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), Business Administration, International Management (Faculty of Economics), Mechatronics (Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics, and Interdisciplinary Research).
Application deadlines
All Bachelor‘s and Master‘s degree programs except those with a creative exam, have application deadlines on 31st March. Bachelor‘s program Design of Textiles and Clothing (FT) has an application deadline on 28th February. For Bachelor‘s programs of Faculty of Art and Architecture there is a deadline of 30th November.

Admission exam for Design of Textiles and Clothing consist of portfolio and creative exam, which takes place in March. For other programs, there are no admission exams.
Admission to the “Design of Textiles and Clothing”
Application submission — until February 28 (round 2 — until July 31). Entrance exams take place in March. You need to pass at least 15 homeworks (head, figures, objects, still lifes, and nature).
The creative exam consists of 3 tasks: painting composition (A2); spatial composition of paper on a given topic; drawing of a still life (minimum A1).

Fine Arts — Art in Public Space Admission exams have 2 stages: 1) applicant‘s portfolio of creative works 2) written test of modern art‘s knowledge, an interview and an assignment of composition drawing.
