The Silesian University is developing fast and cooperating actively with both Czech and foreign universities.

• The Faculty of Philosophy and Science in Opava and the School of Business Administration in Karvina were founded in 1990. Both faculties were united in 1991, thus creating the Silesian University in Opava.

• Nowadays study process is based on the comprehensive material and technical resources.

• The University is a member of the European University Association and cooperates with a list of foreign universities.

• Scientific and research activities are actively conducted in Opava and Karvina as evidenced by the publishing activity of the university staff and regular international conferences.

The entrance exam is held in written form. The same exam for all study programmes. There is a written prerequisites for learning test that includes questions on economics, Social Science and Maths for the Bachelor's programmes. Master's programmes require passing a written prerequisites for learning test in the scope of the Bachelor's programme in Economics that also checks knowledge in microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematics and statistics.
