Janáčkova Akademie Múzických Umění v Brně
The Academy consists of two faculties—music and theater. There are Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and Doctoral degree programs. Students stage operas and musicals at the Divadlo na Orlí art stage and dramatic performances at the Marta Theater Studio. Academy students also have a recording studio equipped with high-quality musical instruments.
The Academy is named after Leoš Janáček, a famous Czech composer who spent most of his life in Brno.
Janáček Academy in Brno was opened in 1947.
Today 700 students study at two faculties of the Academy.
Within the ERASMUS+ Program, Janáček Academy cooperates with many theater and music universities in Europe. The list of partner universities is constantly expanding. For example, from 2017, students will travel to study exchange at the French university École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre (ENSATT) in Lyon.
The Academy’s International Interpretation Courses, the annual Setkání/Encounter Theater Festival, and the Leoš Janáček’s Competition have international prestige.
